Meet Jude’s alt performance persona, MADRIGIRL.
MADRIGIRL is Jude’s outlet for all things experimental and is distinct from her usual career as an ensemble player.

Her noise is new/old, fusing ancient polyphony and instrumentation with modern circuitry to create a truly original sonic lexicon. Under her solo moniker MADRIGIRL, Jude

reimagines early music through a contemporary lens, diving deep into the raw source material of

medieval and Renaissance manuscripts and reconstructing it/deconstructing it with live-looped improvisations, her own compositions, and a rich tapestry of drones.

Her live performances feature a bewildering array of instruments, including shawms, English border bagpipes, crumhorns, hurdy gurdy, synths, electronics and voice, all woven into immersive, otherworldly soundscapes. It’s experimental music with warmth, intelligence and edge.

Jude’s track ‘Dirty Wolkenstein’ was selected as one of BBC Radio 3 Late Junction’s “Sounds of 2025” and broadcast on their Boxing Day show, 2025.
