Take a look into the fascinating life of bears used for enternainment and sport in Shakespearean England. The games will be kicked off in a carnival of colour and sound with musical legends Duran Duran and Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath taking to the international stage in their home city. Musicians from across the region representing global musical styles, will provide the bedrock for major theatrical moments throughout the production, including a Call to Gather for the whole Commonwealth. Featuring Grammy award winning Lekan Babalola on percussion, vocalist Ranjana Ghatak, Jude Rees on shawm, Chris Crouch on bagpipes and djembe player Abraham Paddy Tetteh, accompanied by the CBSO in a specially composed piece of music written in collaboration with the musicians and composers Josh Holness and Dan Jones. An evening not to be missed!

At exactly 20:21 on June the 5th 2021, the people of Coventry will join together in the creation of a historic mass participation premiere, Coventry Moves Together - a monumental and ambitious piece of music by composer and sound artist Dan Jones.

Inspired by the legendary Coventry born composer and mathematician, Delia Derbyshire, the composition will be experienced in surround sound, using thousands of radios simultaneously tuned into a number of musical streams. Listen out for Jude, whose woodwind and hurdy gurdy lines are woven in throughout the work.
